Celebrate Mother's Day

Mother's Day is around the corner, and although many of us may purchase a gift from our local store, we would still like to do more. This Mother's Day, take Mom out to an event or activity. Whether it's shopping, hiking, or dining, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Hornbaker Gardens - Kid's Containers for Mother's Day

• Here's a chance for the kids to come get their hands dirty and create something pretty for Mother's Day. We will have small pots and plant stakes for kids to decorate. They can then plant a flower and have a complete, unique gift to take home. Fee: $15

Starved Rock Lodge - Mother's Day Buffet

• Mom will truly feel special when you treat her to a Mother’s Day Buffet.

• Moms, for all you do all year, this is for you! Celebrate by enjoying the day at Hidden Lakes. There are all sorts of great outdoor activities to enjoy — fishing, hiking, biking, picnicking or just lounging in the sun. 

Keepataw Preserve - Hike with Mother Nature at Keepataw Preserve

• Hike with Mom this Mother’s Day and enjoy the sweeping bluff views, spring flowers and budding trees. A naturalist will point out plants and animals of interest, highlighting the moms of nature. Registration required by Friday, May 12: 815-886-1467
