READ ON!JOLIET, IL — Heritage Corridor Destinations has announced the launch of a new website dedicated to the Lincoln Highway, one of America’s most historic roadways and a key feature of the Heritage Corridor region.
Established as the nation’s first “Coast-to-Coast Rock Highway,” the Lincoln Highway stretches from New York to San Francisco, with a notable portion running through Illinois. The website highlights the highway’s rich history, the communities that developed along its path, and the highway’s impact on Illinois history and culture.
The site also provides maps, travel resources, and historical insights for visitors planning to explore the byway, helping travelers discover the small towns, attractions, and landmarks that define the route.
“This project brings new attention to one of the most significant historic roadways in the United States,” said Robert Navarro, President & CEO of Heritage Corridor Destinations. “Our goal is to connect travelers with the stories and experiences that make the Lincoln Highway such an important part of America’s transportation and cultural history.”
LincolnHighwayIllinois.com received a National Scenic Byway Association Awards Honorable Mention in April 2026. The project was funded in part through the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Scenic Byway Grant.
